“ We had a great meal here last night. For an appetizer, we shared an order of mussels. It came with delicious fries & bread to dip into a yummy sauce. But the big hit was my entree. It was venison chops, which looked a lot like lamb chops. They were served over a wonderful mix of puréed rutabaga & braised red cabbage it was fabulous & was presented beautifully as well. We also shared a chocolate tart & a slice of cheesecake. ”

“ Went here for our anniversary. Our waitress was extremely professional, as was the rest of the staff. The experience overall was great and I would go again. I enjoyed the venison steak although it was only about 5oz, it was cooked perfectly. The frites are very good. My wife had the burger and was not overjoyed about it, I think the patties were too thin for her but it's venison, so ya know... Great place though in the heart of Gettysburg. Come here for date night and head to Mr. G's for ice cream afterwards! ”

“ We were on the waitlist at the Gettysburger restaurant ... walked around town for the 40 min wait. A local store owner recommended going here! We felt we were not dressed enough because it looked very nice / cozy inside so we were going to aim for burgers. She said we were totally fine (sweatshirts and hiking pants). We went to check in for our table at Gettysburger once we got the text ... we could hear music blaring from outside. We opened the door and couldn't hear ourselves even trying to talk to the host and said NOPE. Walked next door to come here - and it was amazing! We sat on the Tavern side at a high top next to the bar. Lovely atmosphere! Low lighting, cozy decor. Of course a deer head over the bar. We did the pretzel buns and cheese board for an app. And then my husband got the burger and I got the trout! Both were devoured and delicious. Burt (our server) was amazing and so attentive! Our beverages were never left empty. Bathrooms clean and beautiful. My own personal preference would've been to have changed into our nicer clothes for dinner because it had that romantic ambiance for a dinner date! So if you get a chance to dress nicer - this is a go-to place! ”

“ What a cool new spot in town! The cocktail - s'mores old fashioned. outrageous. Really cool. Cinnamon bark smoke, according to the menu, and not overly sweet with the marshmallow simple. The appetizer - carrots. In my opinion, not quite done. Definitely crunchier than I was expecting, but the fromage blanc was a nice compliment and the presentation was beautiful. The trout - excellent. Brown butter sauce, perfectly done kale. The gnocchi weren't the texture I'm used to, but they didn't detract, just weren't quite what I was expecting. Dessert - this is where I think they could use some work. Everything sounded like it had some real cool elements, but I'm not sold that they work together. (Quince and cider sorbet with peppermint. Butterscotch custard with persimmon marmalade.) The dish that sounded the best composed also sounded fairly dense (calvados baba, a bread pudding with maple cream), so I ended with the server's recommendation. The ganache tart was fairly standard, but the ice cream was killer. Not very sweet and a ton of flavor. Excited to see what this place does! They're off to a great start. ”
